Modern Extended Techniques and Graphic Notations used in String Instruments

This article studies the extended performance of and writing techniques for string instruments in the twentieth century. Examples of graphic notations that emerged as a result of modern instrument techniques, which were important in the second half of the twentieth century, are also included in this study. Modern instrumental techniques have expanded the imagination of composers and allowed for the discovery of various sounds in orchestra, chamber music, and solo repertoire. The article aims to provide a source for composers and musicians who are interested in how these techniques and notations are used in the literature.
