THE CONCEPT OF NATION-STATE AND RELATIONSHIP W？TH ARCHEOLOGY

After the Industrial Revolution, excavations strated esprcially in Europe in order to find raw materials, to create residential areas and to establish factories. Besides, new reserachers began in order to see the places, that took place in Holy boks and to dicove the cities that Ancient writers pointed out. The science of Archeology emerged out of these situations. Material culture remains which were undersoil had to be defined, classified and explained scientifically. There was another parallelism between social sciences and new emerging communities ideologies In the process of creating citizen of nation-states, people were specifically encouraged to make sciences related with History in order to create a common cultural identity. It is well-known that the science of Archeology plays an important role in creating cultural personalities just like History and Anthropology do. Thus, it wouldn’t be wrong to relate the rise of Archeology as a disipline with European Nationalism
