Assessment of Nutritional Status of Postmenopausal ElderlyKeywords: beslenme,besin ?gesi,ya?l?l?k,postmenopoz Abstract: Aim: During the aging period, nutritional requirements vary, especially with the presence of chronic diseases. In this period of life, which is considered to be one of the vulnerable periods, taking necessary energy, macro and micro nutrients can prevent many diseases and their progress and is important for a quality life. The aim of this study was to determine the anthropometric status of postmenopausal elderly and to assess their nutritional status. Material and Methods: From the 108 participants who completed the study, 2-day food consumption records were taken and the frequency of animal-derived protein was investigated. The results were analyzed by Nutritional Information System 7 (BeBiS 7) program and meeting the requirements were evaluated. Results: The mean age was 63 ± 7.4 years and the mean body mass index was 29.5 ± 3.33 kg / m 2. It was determined that 7.4% of the participants consumed 178.2 ml of milk and 69.4% of them consumed 295.9 g of yoghurt every day. In addition, it was found that 49.1% consumed 5.6 g of red meat and 59.3% of them consumed 48 g of eggs per day. While 28 of the participants had inadequate dietary fiber and 20 of them had inadequate protein intakes; it was observed that 81 people received vitamin B 1 , 47 people had vitamin B 12 , 53 had vitamin E and 99 had potassium below the recommended values. Conclusions: Adequate and balanced nutrition is important especially for postmenopausal individuals in this age group but it was observed that they are insufficient to maintain their ideal body weight and meet the recomended energy, macro and micro nutrient values. It is thought that giving expert trainings on this subject can positively affect the nutritional status of this age group
