The process of conceptualization with the emergent modelling perspective: An example of sembolizationKeywords: Matematiksel modelleme,sosyokültürel yakla??m,parantez i?areti,matematiksel sembol Abstract: The objective of this study is to examine the student’s process of using mathematical sembols with the emergent modelling perspective. A preliminary study was carried out, then a third grade student was chosen as a participant pursposively. The study is a fenomologic case study. Model eliciting and model adaptation activity conducted two times consequetivey within four months. Data collection tools were audio recordings and student’s study notes during modelling process, student’s and parent’s interview records and researcher’s observation notes. The question “what is the individual`s experiment?” aimed for seeking an answer considering a student`s performance in modelling process. Findings were interpreted in the circle of “model of” and “ model for” process with the emergent modelling perspective. The results obtained showed that through the findings of the student`s measurements with standarts and nonstandarts measures, the groups were formed by the participant and this formation led using the sembol of paranthesis. In this research using standart and nonstandart measures and the related finding with other mathematics concepts were interpreted in sociocultural perspective
