The Use Of Evliya ?elebi Seyahatnamesi in Social Studies Teaching

Abstract:

The primary purpose of this study, which employs the qualitative research model and applies the case study design, is to examine the content of Evliya ?elebi Seyahatnamesi based on the acquisitions contained in the 5th-grade, 6th-grade, and 7th-grade Social Studies Curriculum. The study group consists of 10-volume Evliya ?elebi Seyahatnamesi and the acquisitions in the 5th-grade, 6th-grade, and 7th-grade Social Studies Curriculum. Document review was used for data collection. At the data collection stage, the researcher read 4,000-page, 10-volume Evliya ?elebi Seyahatnamesi published by Yap? Kredi Publications (2013) in one year. The researcher examined and analyzed each page of Evliya ?elebi Seyahatnamesi. Then based on the concepts formed, 40 acquisitions were determined from the Social Studies curriculum (5th-grade, 6th-grade, and 7th-grade). Following the creation of categories and codes based on the acquisitions, their validity and reliability was checked by experts. Then the data were collected based on the categories and codes through document review. As the acquisitions were determined based on the concepts formed according to Evliya ?elebi Seyahatnamesi and then categories and codes were created, the obtained data were analyzed through content analysis.
