Evaluation of the Perceived Problem Solving Skills of Prospective Teachers

The purpose of this research was to examine the perceived problem solving skills of prospective teachers. In the study, a screening model was used from descriptive research methods. The sample of the research was 406 students from Kocaeli and Sakarya Universities Sports Sciences Faculties, Physical Education and Sports Teachers Education, Sports Management, Recreation and Coaching programs and Education Faculties with 406 students in Turkish, Mathematics, Science Education, Classroom Teaching and Psychological Counseling and Guidance programs. "Problem Solving Inventory" developed by Heppner and Petersen (1982) and adapted to Turkish by ？ahin, ？ahin and Heppner (1993) was used as data collection tool in the research. Independent group t-test was used to determine whether there was any difference according to gender and class levels in the analysis of the data, and ANOVA was used according to LYS score types In the study, it was concluded that teacher candidates were below the middle level in terms of perceived problem solving skill scores, that gender was not a determining factor and that those in equal weight were in better condition than verbal and special ability areas, but there was no difference between the other fields Keywords: Teacher candidates, perceived problem solving skill, LYS field
