Travel Books on Social Studies Textbooks

The use of literary products in social studies lesson is important. Use of literary products as a course material; the course of interest to make it interesting, the student to handle the subject from different perspectives, as well as a positive effect on the permanence of the information. In this respect, one of the literary products that can be used in lessons is the travel book. But traveling; a person's impressions of the places he sees his own perspective and often using a technique of depiction is called literary works. Travels; gives spatial information and is the first source. It is important to use travelbooks with a quality of a historical document, which are realistic and interesting, in the teaching of social studies. The aim of this research is to ensure; to reveal the use of travelbooks in primary school social studies textbooks. In the study; Document analysis technique was used for qualitative research methods. In the research, Social Studies (grades 4-7) textbooks prepared by the Ministry of National Education and Social Studies Lesson Curriculum (Primary and Secondary School 4, 5, 6 and 7 Classes) were used. As a result of the research, it is concluded that the use of travel book in textbooks is limited. Informative texts on how to use travelogues in textbooks and lessons can be increased.
