Investigation of Opinions of Turkish Society for Match Fixing Perception of Sports in Terms of Different Variables (Sample of K？r？kkale Province)

The purpose of this research is to reveal the perspective of Turkish society regarding the events of the match fixing in sports, which as of July 3, 2011 occupies the country's agenda as a match fixing process in soccer and resulted in the evaluation of the match fixing actions within the scope of criminal law. The research group was constituted 604 (404 male, 200 female) sports fan who are living in K？r？kkale province of Turkey in 2014 and who follow sports and interest in sports. In the research, 6 items of the questionnaire developed by Ekici (2013) for measuring match fixing perception in sports were used and 5 items were added by researchers and the result was finalized “Match Fixing Perception Measurement Survey of Sports” consisting of 11 items and personal information form with questions on gender, age, education and occupation prepared by the researchers was applied. In the analysis of the obtained data, frequency, percentage range and chi square test was applied. The results were evaluated at p=0,05 significance level. As a result of the research, statistically meaningful relationships between the participants’ match fixing perception of sports and gender, age, education and occupation variables were determined
