AN INTERGENERATIONAL FOCUS GROUP STUDY BASED ON DIALOGUE DEVELOPMENT ON TECHNOLOGY

While the life expectancy on birth in the world incereases and the birth rates decrease so much, rate of elderly population increases and different generations live together longer than before. In this study, it was aimed to examine the experiences of different generations in the society on interpreting the technologies through the generation variables and to contribute to communication between the generations. In doing so, it is also the intent of this work to promote face-to-face communication among people and encourage them to engage in a dialogue on a discussion platform on communication technologies. In this study, a focus grup discussion was conducted under guidance of two moderators which are executives of the study, with a total of 20 students selected by random sampling from 60+ Refresher University Ege Campus which attendants are individuals over 60 years old, and 9th grade high school students. Participants in the study were interviewed in three main questions. These are; what communication technologies mean for themselves, how often and for what purpose these technologies are used, whether there are positive or negative aspects of technology that they see. Responses were assessed separately for each question, with particular attention being paid to the opinions of all participants. When the data were analyzed, '' Descriptive Analysis '' method was used
