Significance of Education towards Social Cohesion: The Case of Syrian Refugees in TurkeyKeywords: Suriyeli s???nmac?lar,toplumsal uyum,e?itim Abstract: Civil war started in 2011 in Syria and it has been continuing for 8 years. During this process Turkey has applied “open door” policy and received approximately 3.632.622 Syrians. Almost % 63 of Syrian children in Turkey who are in school age continue their education. Additionally, Turkish language education courses besides vocational education courses are provided for Syrian adults in Turkey. Social cohesion is a significant requirement to provide social peace and Turkey pays attention to provide it, especially as a result of intense Syrian migration. Formal/organized education and public/common education areas as language education, vocational education, religion education, culture education, primary, secondary and high school education, college education are expected to be useful for Syrian children and adults to build their life in Turkey and live in social cohesion. Furthermore, it is considered that education of Turkish society would also be useful to build a life environment providing social cohesion with Syrians. The study firstly investigates the education process of the Syrians refugees since the beginning of the migration and attempts to understand the basic problems they encounter during the process. The main aim of the study is to explain the ways to provide social cohesion with education apart from these problems, based on our field study in ?anl?urfa and Ankara. Our research will investigate the basic studies in the area, and analyze these data with the data obtained through in-depth interview and participant observation methods
