Attraction Factors That Affect Sustainability in Historical Refunctioned Buildings in Kastamonu

Science and technology developing rapidly in the process have caused changes in working conditions, family buildings, worldviews, beliefs, and needs of the individuals. As a result of these changes, many historical buildings have lost their function, they have been abandoned, and remained idle. These idle buildings have gained importance by understanding the importance of sustainability in tourism and they have been refunctioned within the framework of survival principle. As a result of this situation, scarce resources have been preserved, cultural sustainability has been realized and social, cultural and economic contributions have been made to the environment. In parallel with this case, this study was investigated by questionnaire which shows the attractiveness factors which provide the survival of the historical mansions in Kastamonu.By using statistical package program in the analysis of data, nonparametric “Mann Whitney U”, and “Kruskal Wallis” tests are applied other than “percentage” and “frequency”. According to the results of the study, the factors affecting to prefer mansion hotels were occupation, economic situation, culture and lifestyle.It is also determined that these factors showed a significant difference according to individual characteristics, gender, education status and total monthly income of tourists
