The Relationship Between Economic Growth with Tourism Revenues in Turkey: Engle Granger Cointegration Test and VAR Model

The tourism sector is one of the fastest developing sectors in the global world economy. It is an indispensable sector especially for developing countries. Hence, in this study, the contribution of the tourism sector on the economy is tested under the relation of tourism revenues and economic growth. The aim of this study is to determine whether there is any relationship between tourism revenues and GDP in the range of 1995 - 2016 period in Turkey. To test the relationship; Engle Granger Cointegration test and VAR analysis were applied. As a result, the positive impact of tourism revenues on economic growth and the existence of a long-term relationship between the two variables were detected
