Abstract:

In this study it was analyzed that how the the waist-hip ratio (W / H), ratio used in the detection of abdominal obesity in adults, varies according to sex and the relationship between the waist-hip ratio (W / H) and blood groups. A total of 443 individuals, male and female, with a mean age of 20.76 years were evaluated. The participants’ age, body weight, height, sex and blood groups were measured and waist-hip measurements were made to determine the abdominal obesity. The analysis of Means (ANOM) was used to compare the W / H ratio and BMI (Body Mass Index) values of the students in different blood groups. Although the results obtained in males and females were not statistically significant, it was seen that in males (AB +) students in the blood group had a lower B / K ratio average at levels that could be practically important compared to the students in other blood groups. When we look at the females, the W / H ratio of the students in the blood group (AB-) was higher at the levels that could be practically important compared to the students in the other blood groups and lower in the mean BMI, and it is thought that there will be a great benefit if this is not ignore
