THE GERMAN EFFECT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE IN TURKEY DURING ATATüRK PERIODKeywords: Almanya,Ankara,Tar?m Politikas?,Cumhuriyet Türkiye’si,Tohumluk Abstract: Upon the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923 by the Grand National Assembly Government formed in Ankara, it was also officially recognized by the world that a new Turkish State was established in Anatolia. However Treaty of Lausanne was a result of the wars which caused severe conclusions. The trained human power of the country had died out in the wars, and Turkey had become dependent on qualified manpower and professionals in order to develop. Moreover Britain and as well as France, the victorious states of World War I tried to isolate Turkey in foreign politics during the first years of the Republic. The German Weimar Republic, which had a similar fate with Turkey at the time regarding the said isolation. Germany and Turkey had collaborated in foreign policy during this process. Germany had met lack of qualified man power resulted with wars in Turkey in the first years of Republican era. German experts and scientists contributed to the development of the country within this period by offering consultancy in so many different fields from engineering and industry to agriculture, animal husbandry etc. in Turkey. Agriculture was the preliminary field that Germans had affected. Economy of Turkey was highly based on agriculture in the first years of the Republic. However, agriculture sector had big problems. It was essential to solve these problems to develop agriculture sector in Turkey. Turkey had the experts coming abroad prepare various reports to solve these problems. German agricultural experts and scientists had made great contributions in determining agricultural problems in Turkey and measures to be taken. In addition, Germans who were appointed to agricultural schools in Turkey had helped to bring up new teams. Therefore, great developments had been achieved during Atatürk Era in Turkey.
