ABDULHAMIT II’s VIEW OF ART AND AN ARTIST

During 33 years of power, Abdulhamit II undersigned very important political, social and cultural developments. He was an emperor who was interested in carpentry, Western style music as well as crafted porcelein and art of painting. His reign was substantial not only in terms of developing art, but also in encouraging and rewarding artists. This was a transitionary period between the Ottoman Empire and the Republican era and this cultural accumulation formed the basis of the Republic of Turkey
