The Thoughts of Journalists of the Tanzimat Period on the National Assembly during the Transition Process into the Constitutional ManagementKeywords: ?inasi,Agah Efendi,Nam?k Kemal,Ziya Pa?a,Ali Suavi,Tanzimat D?nemi,Bas?n Abstract: Otoman Empire went through a hard process during 19th century along with the riots that broke out thoroughout the country, instability in administration and the corruption in social and economic life. This situation of the state prompted the officials of the term, especially the padishahs, to look for solutions for the salvation and to make reforms. The rescript of Gülhane (Tanzimat ferman?) , announced by Mustafa Reshit Pahsa, was the most extensive of these regulations. Tanzimat which brought innovations to administration and law set ground for the birth of an enlightened class adopting western opinions. Tanzimat intellectuals such as Nam?k Kemal and Ziya Pasha who merged under the notions like “Independence” and “Equality” started to declare these views through the newspapers and to oppose Bab?ali. Nam?k Kemal and Ziya Pasha often putting emphasis on the conceipt of “The National Assembly” especially in the Independence Newspaper which they published in London as the media organ of New Ottomans committee, put forward that many state problems would dissappear if the government was to be “in charge” in front of this assembly. In this study, the contributions that Nam?k Kemal and Ziya Pasha made at the beginning of democtratic life in Turkey will be tried to be identified
