A Comparative Analysis of Global Competition: North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Shanghai Cooperation Organization

The purpose of this article is to compare and explain the similarities and differences of NATO and the SCO, in the context of Eurasianism which was part of daily discussion ？n Turkey. For this purpose, organization objectives and classification, establishment processes, alliance obligations, threat perceptions, qualifications of members, decision making systems, responsibility fields, mutual interactions and activities were analyzed through comparative method. At the end of analysis, it was determined that there are considerable differences, despite some similarities, between NATO and SCO in aspect of quality, aim and context. Turkey can collaborate with SCO as long as it does not harm Turkey’s commitment in NATO
