Determination and comparison of the heat requirement of greenhouses for Siirt and Antalya provinces

The rapid increase of human population in the world increases the amount of food needed for human life. For this reason, productive applications that can be produced throughout the year come to the fore. Greenhouses are climate-controlled agricultural structures in which the indoor conditions can be controlled and kept in accordance with the growing conditions. In this study, the heating loads of Siirt province were investigated. In this context, the climatic values (minimum, maximum and average temperature) between Antalya and the province of Siirt in Tigris basin were statistical compared and differences were found. In case of lowering heating costs from alternative energies, it is concluded that Siirt province is partially suitable for greenhouse cultivation in terms of sunshine duration, quantity and minimum temperature values. According to the results, it is not possible to compete with Antalya province if heat energy required for greenhouses in Siirt province is provided by fossil fuels. However, considering that the efficiently and productively usage of geothermal or photovoltaic energy potential and the highly cost of transportation from Antalya to Siirt province, it is possible to meet the potential consumption and therefore the chance of competing with Antalya in terms of price and production
