Nursing Students' Blood Donation Determination Of Attitudes

Backround: Blood donation is one of our personal responsibilities socially and it awareness that we fulfill our social responsibilities by improving our values like cooperation and solidarity within the society. The development of social consciousness about blood donation can be realized through education. Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the attitudes of the nursing department students towards blood donation. Methods: Research is designed as descriptive research. The study was conducted with Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Health Sciences Faculty 402 students who were educated in the nursing department and accepted to participate in the research in the 2017-2018 academic year. "Introductory Information Form" and "Blood Donation Attitude Scale" were used in the study. Data were analyzed frequencies, percentage, student t test and analysis of variance. Results: It was determined that the average age of the participants was 20.52±1.77, 76.4% were female and 23.6% were male. The total score average of students' blood donation attitude is 83.47±9.47. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the total scores of the scale and the classes of the students. When sub-dimensions of the scale are evaluated. The mean scores of students' blood donation attitude scale social and social responsibility, anxiety and social opinion and understanding dimension scores were respectively 50.32±5.28, 22.17±6.29, 10.97±3.46. The average social and social responsibility subscale was found to be higher and statistically significant in women. Conclusion: It was determined that the blood donation attitudes and behaviors of the nursing students in the study were positive
