A Macroanatomic Study on Arteria Carotis Externa and its Branches in Red Foxes (Vulpes vulpes)Keywords: K?z?l tilki, anatomi, yaban hayat?,a. carotis externa Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the red fox a. carotis externa and the macro-anatomical structure of these branches. For this purpose, 6 red fox heads, which were found to be dead as a result of traffic accidents, were used as a material during the winter. The arterial system of fox heads a. carotis communis dextra and a. carotis communis sinistra of 0.9% saline solution was given by washing the arteries. A. carotis communis dextra and a. carotis communis sinistra was injected with red paint colored latex and all arteries in the head area were filled. The materials were allowed to standart room temperature for 24 hours in order to solidify the latex. Materials were kept in a 10% formaldehyde solution for 8-12 days. The dissections of the materials were performed. At the end of the study, it was seen that the a. carotis externa and a. carotis interna were seperated from the arteria carotis communis. Than, the branches that arteria occipitalis, arteria laryngea cranialis, arterial lingualis, arteria facialis, arteria auricularis caudalis, arteria temporalis superficialis, were separated from arteria carotis externa. Arteria carotis externa was observed to be the arteria maxillaris. first a. alveolaris inferior and a. temporalis profunda caudalis seperate from a. maxillaris. Than a. maxillaris into canalis alaris. It was seen that there are no branches in canalis alaris given from a. maxillaris. After leaving the canalis alaris a. maxillaris given that a. ophthalmica externa, a. ethmoidalis externa and a. temporalis profunda rostralis. As a result, this study conducted on a. carotis externa and its branches in red fox has found some differences between the veins and branches of the red foxes in the head region, although they are similar to carnivors in general, and found that they have some differences
