The Representation of Women within the Context of the Enthusiasm Appeal the Soviet Propaganda Posters Used in the Second World WarKeywords: Sovyetler Birli?i,Kad?nlar,Propaganda,Poster,Co?ku ?ekicili?i Abstract: The enthusiasm appeal is a type of emotional appeals that aims to encourage the action of people for a specific purpose, namely eliminating their competitors. In World War II, the Soviet Union effectively used enthusiasm appeal for the purpose of propaganda in order to mobilize the Soviet people against the occupation by Nazi Germany. It was seen that women were frequently portrayed in Soviet propaganda posters used in the enthusiasm appeal. Within the scope of the study, the attempt was made to try to find out how and in what way the women were represented for the purpose of propaganda in Soviet propaganda posters in World War II. For this purpose, 7 propaganda posters from the All World Wars site were chosen by using the purposeful sampling method. Soviet propaganda posters used in World War II in the context of the enthusiasm appeal were examined using the semiotic analysis method as a qualitative research method. The posters were analysed within the framework of the semiotic method of the French Linguist Roland Barthes. In the findings, in the context of the enthusiasm appeal; it was seen that female representations were used for the purpose of propaganda so that Soviet men fought decisively against the Axis Powers and the Soviet women attended to the production areas behind the front
