AN ASSESSMENT ON TURCO-RUSSIAN POLITICAL RELATIONS BETWEEN 1919 - 1923

The object of this work is to analyze Turkish-Russian rapprochement, united against imperialism between 1919 and 1923. This phase, built on consensual understanding and rapprochement, was based upon mutual interests. While Bolsheviks hoped for a new socialist current in Turkey, Mustafa Kemal approached them, in a cautious, distant and pragmatic way. Thus, the relations developed on a realistic and benefit-oriented basis. It is also worth noting that the rapprochement between anti-imperialist Turkey and Russia cannot be studied independently of Europe’s status quo in the aftermath of WWI
