OPINIONS OF PARENTS ABOUT THE FOODS SOLD IN SCHOOL CANTEENSKeywords: Okul Kantini,Besin Se?imi,Besin Güvenli?i,Hijyen. Abstract: OBJECTIVE: : In this study, it was aimed to examine the opinions of parents about the foods sold in school canteens. METHODS: The study was carried out in Antalya Atatürk State Hospital Hüseyin Sava? Neighborhood Policlinic in the department of child health and illnesses between 02-13 May 2016. A total of 108 mothers and fathers (n = 492) who were canteen in the child's school and voluntarily participated in the study were interviewed by the parents who were enrolled in the primary education and secondary education institution that applied to the polyclinic. In the collection of research data, a questionnaire consisting of questions about descriptive characteristics and research topic was used. RESULTS: 83.3% of the children included in the study were interviewed by their mothers. Children; The mean age is 9.09 ± 1.4 years. Among the food / beverage types sold in the school canteen, 56.48% of the children in the survey had bagels, 51.86% chocolate, sugar, chips, 45.37% of the children consumed fruit juice. Families; (9.3% to 33.3%) rates of compliance with sanitary conditions and reliability of food / drinks sold in school canteens. In our study, families reported that they had the most morning for breakfast, the most full day for lunch, and the most afternoon children's canteen to get a snack (p <0.05). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Children reported that their children prefer to consume foods that are high in calories and harmful to health. Schools should develop a healthy canteen policy and determine the food to be sold in the canteen
