THE PRODUCTION OF GROUND CALCIUM CARBONATE (GCC) FROM MARBLE WASTES: COMPARISON OF WET AND DRY GRINDING PRODUCTSKeywords: GCC,Mermer art???,Ya?/kuru ??ütme Abstract: Ground calcium carbonate (GCC), which is used in many industrial applications, is a high value added when it is produced in the appropriate quality/standard and the logistically conducive global markets. Marble residues stockpiled in the open marble quarry of Erma?-Yata?an Marble have high purity and whiteness degree. Marble residues stocked in forest rented land created pollution from ecological point of view as well as aesthetic appearance. However, it is possible to produce GCC which is used in many sectors such as paper, dyes, plastic, food, building & construction, medicine, cosmetics, and others. This paper describes a study carried out to obtain data on stress intensity, specific energy consumption, steepness factor, d50 through grinding variables in a stirred media mill under wet/dry grinding. We have also determined the properties of the micronized GCC products (particle size, whiteness, BET specific surface area, oil absorption) for the production of GCC of Mu?la Beyazi marble residues with high purity and degree of whiteness. Moreover; the micronized wet (Erma? 1, Erma? 2) and dry (Erma? 3) grinding products were compared with their equivalents trading in global markets
