A Ghost in Germany-Poland Relations: Historical Issues

In this study, it is aimed to answer the question of how historical issues arising from the past are reflected in the relations between Germany and Poland. Poland uses a more nationalist rhetoric in issues derivative of the Second World War and uses it as a means of repression in European policy. Germany on the other hand, conciliatory lays out an attitude in a way that would not overshadow bilateral and multilateral cooperation of the past. The difference in perception between the parties and how this is reflected in inter European cooperation is tried to be brought up, by taking into consideration before and after Poland's EU membership process. In this way, it will be possible to see the impact of civil society and public opinion on foreign policy construction as well as the official circles and political elites. At the same time, the study will show that despite the European integration, the past still continues to dominate the future
