Abstract:

The concept of generational disparities expresses different perspectives among groups of people who were born and grew up at about twenty five-thirty year intervals and who lived together in the social, political, historical and economic conditions of the same period and had similar perspectives. In today's world, there are five generations with different characteristics, and three of them actively work in business life. The purpose of the research is to determine whether the public and private sector differences are influential in the level of organizational commitment of the Baby Boomer, X and Y generation managers and to give a scientific perspective to the existence of the generation approach. In this content; between November 2016 and February 2017, a questionnaire form is applied to 357 managers working in 35 different institutions of different sizes and structures operating in the public and private sectors in the province of ?zmir. The questionnaire is prepared by using the three dimensional organizational commitment scale developed by Allen and Meyer (1990) as well as the questions prepared to measure perceptions of demographic characteristics and generation differences of the relevant sample group. Findings are statistically evaluated and findings are obtained at a strong and meaningful level regarding the perspectives of managers working in the public and private sector institutions and their level of organizational commitment
