THE EVALUAT？ON OF THE CONCEPT OF J？HAD ？N AL-MUHAJER’S BOOK OF “MESAEL M？N F？QH AL-J？HAD”

In this paper, the conception of jihad argued in the book titled “Masail min Fiqh al-Jihad” by Abu Abdullah al-Muhajir is analyzed, whose book is creditable and used as a reference in terms of political Salafi movements. The verses and hadiths put forth by him to base his understanding of jihad were analysed individually, and his stance in this matter is compared to that of the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad. In this analysis, it is clearly seen that al-Muhajir removed his reference verses and hadiths from their contexts and manipulated them for his own political interests, causing the emergence of a new understand that has never been seen in the Islamic tradition. It is identified that he considered unbeliever and categorized as enemy and fought against those who did not support his understanding, and that his understanding of jihad, which is against the understanding of jihad according to Islam, turns into a weapon aiming at civilians without discrimination
