THE DETERMINATION OF TURKISH AND SYRIAN CHILDREN’S METAPHORS RELATED TO CONCEPT OF “MIGRATION”Keywords: G??,Suriye,?ocuk,Metafor,Mülteci Abstract: As a result of political and social developments in Syria since 2011, it has been seen that a large number of refugees have migrated from Syria to Turkey. Turkey's situated Syrian refugees are 3.586,679 which of 1,646,285 (45.9%) are children under the age of 18. It can be said that the children lived and the events they encountered in the process of this migration were an important factor in the development of perceptions, thoughts and attitudes related to the concept of "Migration". In this research, it was aimed to understand the views of the Syrian refugee children who are educated in the temporary training centers and Turkish citizens, and to compare the metaphors of the children about this concept comparatively. The study was conducted using phenomenological design that is qualitative research method. The study group consists of 41 Turkish and Syrian children who are studying at a primary school and at the Temporary Training Center in the province of Mersin. Participants were selected by the typical state sampling method that is purposive sampling. For the data collection, semi-structured interview was used. The data were analyzed by content analysis. According to the findings, it was determined that the Turkish children who participated in the research developed 9 different metaphors related to the concept of "Migration". These metaphors are divided into 5 categories as arrive, immigrant, travel, transport and past. It has been determined that Syrian children who participated in the research have developed 7 different metaphors related to the concept of "Migration".
