HUMOR PRESS IN THE NATIONAL STRUGGLE PER？OD: GüLERYüZ MAGAZINE AND CARTOONS BY SEDAT SIMAVI

In forming the public opinion, the press has been at the forefront of the most effective instruments since the past. Between 1919 and 1922, characterized as the National Struggle Period, the war was not realized only on the battlefront line. There was a war in the press area where the society was informed and the developments were followed. In this period, the press has played an important role in giving morale to the Turkish society and adopting the National Struggle. In this period where literacy rates are low, collecting humor magazines has played an important role by telling the National Struggle with cartoons. Güleryüz magazine published by Sedat Simavi who supported the National Struggle took place as the most effective humor publication of the period. In this study, the situation of the humor press in the National Struggle Period was mentioned.Then, it was aimed to determine the relations between the Güleryüz magazine was published by Sedat Simavi and the cartoons drawn by Sedat Simavi in this magazine with the events that took place in this National Struggle period
