EVIDENCE OF THE ETERNITY OF HELL IN THE VERSES AND HADITHSKeywords: Ahiret, cehennem, kafir, azap, ebed? Abstract: An article of the Islamic faith is belief in the hereafter, hell, and heaven. The verses and hadith reveal that the Day of Judgment will come under God’s command. Once resurrected, the dead will be brought to crowd, their deeds reckoned. The believers then will end in paradise and the disbelievers in hell – paradise being the site of reward and hell the place of punishment. As these stations are not temporary but permanent, the disbelievers will remain in hell forever. Furthermore, the verses indicate that any apology from disbelievers will be in vain and their torment will not go away. There is no escape or exit from hell and thus, though impossible, they will continue wishing to decease or vanish. The hell-bound believers on account of committing cardinal sins are exceptions, however, because they will be punished and then will depart from hell to paradise
