Overview of Organic Aquaculture in Turkey and in the World

In this study, it was tried to explain the general situation, standards, certification agencies and organic aquaculture practices for the organic aquatic products in Turkey and the world. Development and current situations of organic aquaculture in Turkey and World have been also argued. Although Turkey has water resources and facilities which are very suitable for organic aquaculture production, the developments of Turkish organic aquaculture is not as well developed in the world. This low of intense for organic aquaculture is due to insufficiency of infrastructure and high technical personnel demand, high production costs, non-fixed certificate standards and hard certification conditions. In addition, the lack of sufficient scientific research on this subject has also emerged in the literature
