A Glance to the Implementation of the Municipal Medicine in the Ottoman Empire in the Case of KaramürselKeywords: Osmanl? Devleti,Sa?l?k Te?kilatlanmas?,Belediye Tabipli?i Abstract: Introduction: The Ottoman Empire initiated the practice of municipal physician system in the IXth century in order to bring health service to all people. This step taken by the Ottoman Empire is very important in terms of Ottoman history of medicine. Aim and Methodology: The purpose of this research is seeking an answer about the question that how much the Ottoman Empire was successful to put the municipal medicine system into practice in the case of municipal physicians who carried out their duties in Karamursel, which is a district of Kocaeli today, in the light of the documents which are found in the Prime Minister's Ottoman Archives. Findings: Our work provided information on how the municipal physicians were assigned their duties, how their salaries were paid, and how their rank was raised. Conclusion: The information provided by our research has shown that there were various problems in the practice of the Municipal medicine system
