Delivery Room in Modern Obstetrics: Structural and Operational StandardsKeywords: Do?umhane,Do?umhane Standartlar? Abstract: Being as old as the existence of humankind, maternity assistance initially arose as cooperation among women; its transfer to medical environment took place in relatively recent past. Modern delivery rooms' appearance in medical history as distinctive units in hospitals took place in 18th century. The unit where delivery operation is done and delivery assistance is given in hospitals is called ''delivery room'' or “delivery hall”. It is possible to connect these diversities of its name to transformation of its physical structure; its transition from a single room in gynecology clinic to a wide and separate structure of which all rooms have different functions. Maternity assistance's transfer to hospital formed a basis for some problems as it made the process and operations complicated besides its advantages. These problems are mostly medical but sometimes cause the medical ethics to become a current issue. In the content of the declaration, physical conditions of the delivery rooms, equipment used during delivery process, delivery assistance team and unit's operational order in the world and especially in our country is respectively discussed in the frame of modern standards
