COMPARISON OF SOME PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SOCCER AND TENNIS PLAYERSKeywords: Tenis Abstract: Specifying whether there are certain physically differences between the different branches of sport is the objective of this study. 19 tennis players of a tennis club in Ankara being 11.21±1.08 years, 152±0,11 m, 44.76±7.87 kg, 3.15±1.11 years (respectively average of age, stature, body weight and age of sport) and 19 soccer players of a soccer team in Ankara being 11.68±0.58 years, 144±0.54 m, 35±5.46 kg, 2.21±1.31 years (respectively average of age, stature, body weight and age of sport) have voluntarily participated in the survey. 5 m sprint, 10 m sprint, shuttle, push up, long jump and ball launching tests have been tested on athletes. After descriptive statistics of subjects were calculated, it has been evaluated with shapiro-wilk test whether data show normal distribution and homogeneities of variance have been evaluated with Levene test. Shuttle, push up, long jump and ball launching data having parametric qualifications have been evaluated with t-test and 5-10 m sprint and push up test data having non-parametric qualifications have been evaluated with Whitney-U test. Statistical data have been calculated with the help of SPSS 17 package software. Following the searches, difference between soccer and tennis players hasn’t been found, except 5 m sprint test and long jump test. These results show that soccer players are better than tennis players in point of reaction rate. It is tellable that soccer training has the characteristics of reaction time enhancer. When averages examined, it has been thought that the difference was small and possibility of it showed up accidentally. Even if long jump test is seen statistically significant in support of tennis players. No significant difference in tests show that physical properties of soccer players as well as tennis players haven’t been affected by different features of the sports that they have been playing yet
