Opinions of Preschool Teachers on Science Education in Early Childhood

Abstract:

This research aims to examine the opinions of teachers on science education in early childhood. Study group of the research consists of 189 preschool teachers working at the city centre of ?orum province and its sub-provinces. Survey model used in this research and data obtained through semi-structured interview form is subjected to content analysis. Factors that have a positive and negative effect on the approach of teachers towards science education, the problems they face regarding science education, reflections of these problems and teacher’s recommendations on solution of these problems, teachers' self-sufficiency in science education, the areas in which the teachers consider themselves inefficient, the methods teachers use for complementing these inefficiencies, the subjects on which teacher’s want to receive in-service training, teacher’s availability of a science centre in their classroom, points that considered and resources used by teachers during planning and reasons for preferring these resources have been studied
