THE CONCEPT OF REPERTOIR IN FOLKLORISTICS: THE SHOE MAKER NURETT?N CEBEC?Keywords: Halkbilim,Repertuar,Zanaat,Bale Kundura,Ayakkab? Abstract: Folklorists have always wondered how craftsmen create their works, what inspire them and what are their sources when they are creating their valuable ‘’art works’’. In general terms, everything which includes the shape, size and structure of the product like all pattern ideas, creations, the choice of color and material and the number of patters and motives which the craftsman know is called repertoire. The term has a quantitative nature. The concept of repertoire is used for handicrafts and narratives (like narrating myths) to define the number of items a craftsman has in his memory. There are two major views in folkloristics: the first one states that the repertoire of the craftsman or the artist is created at a specific age and it stays same and stable without changing throughout their life. For this view, repertoire is something complete and finished. The concept is passive here. The other view states that repertoire changes all the time and it is dynamic in the craftsman or the artist’s mind. In this study, we will try to find out which view is closer to this idea with field work conducted interview with Cebeci who has a shoe store and studio in Ankara
