Abstract: If administrative processes in a university to be carried out in an efficient and timely manner, students, academics, or other universities even interact affect better from this condition. To achieve that, the optimum number of personnel must be determined on the basis of faculties and departments. In this study, determination of the optimum number of administrative staff in a public university has been carried out on the basis of faculties and departments with respect to workload. Firstly, current personnel distribution is analyzed in university, then the faculties and departments where needs personnel or have excess personnel are determined. In this paper, one of the most well-known Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques called Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to determine the weights of different workloads. This study can be considered as a personnel scheduling problem. But the problem presented is different from classic personnel scheduling problems. In the classical scheduling problem, personnel is assigned to shifts according to the workloads; but in this problem, we distribute existing personnel according to the workload for normal working hours and to obtain the optimum number of personnel for each individual department. According to the obtained results, a work balance based on faculties and departments is investigated
