Childhood Developmental Characteristics and Religious Education: A Study on Problems and Solution Proposals

In this study, the developmental characteristics of childhood period and religious education were examined in the context of problems and solutions.As a method, literature review and interview techniques were used. Findings of similar studies on the subject have also been utulized. In addition to these, a general situation related to childhood developmental stages / areas, characteristics and factors affecting religious education were determined and problems encountered in this process were included. In this context, the problems encountered in childhood religious education; not to manage the educational process well by parents, not to know/take into the consideration the developmental characteristics of child and not to use different methods accordingly to this, not to be the role model that parents and educators can identify with the child the lack of a sense of responsibility, the eliminaiton of the love-centered approach, the inefficient use of mass media, the disabilities in religious education for the disabled people, and the findings related to the lack of this education were reached and pedagogical suggestions were provided to solve these problems
