Abstract:

Literary texts are generally constructed on four basic elements. They are time, space, event and the character. The most important of these elements is the character. Without the character, the other elements do not make much sense. Particularly in children books, the character should be treated more rigorously while it is beingedited. Because, children more identify with the characters in the books they read, they try to be like those characters in everyday life. For this reason, the created characters should be able to sense the good, the right, the moral and the nationalv alues to the child. Characters should not be much idealized and should be left in constant negativity. There sulting characters should show that in the middle of the two (idealize dornegativity) there can be negative parts and positive parts which are a sily found in the child's daily life and are not distant from the child. Unfortunately, this awareness has not been created in the majority of children books. Characters are too idealistic, that every one covet. The children area way from being children, and they are presentedtothereaders, like they are a dults. This causes the children who read the book to feel themselves in a dequate and to be negatively affected psychologically. This situation can be avoided by leaning on this subject, creating sensitivity and making theauth or saware of this issue, and the idealized heroiccase can be broken. For this purpose, Peyami Safa’s book titled “A Turkish Child in America”, Elif Safak's “Sakiz Sardunya” and Cahit Ucuk's “Silver Wing” will be examined in terms of the idealized hero. In the study, document analysis is used in qualitativere search methods. As a result of the study, Peyami Safa's Oguz character in a book titled “A Turkish Child in America”, Sakiz Sardunya character in the book “Sakiz Sardunya” by Elif Safak, exhibited idealized behaviors. Oguz character, who can go to America alone with the ship can get rid of all the events that happened; Sakiz Sardunya character is the ideal character who behaves more sensitively than his age, does not play games to disturb others, and chooses to read books instead of playing games among the lessons given in school. Kemal character of Cahit Ucuk's book named Silver Wing tries to maintain the livelihood of his family without any complaints despite all the negativities he has experienced. These characters do not coincide with the child's reality
