Contribution of Turkomans in the Success of Nur ad-Din MahmoudKeywords: Türkmenler,Suriye,N?redd?n Mahm?d Zeng?,Zeng?ler,Yar?k? Abstract: After killing of his father Imad ad-Din Zangi in the Caber Fortress in 541/1146, Nur ad-Din Mahmoud Zangi started to rule in Aleppo and its surroundings in the Mosul-based Syrian section of Zangi Atabeg and had expanded his territory regularly thanks to communication with the Turkomans. Nur ad-Din Mahmoud thanks to the experienced military contributions of Turkomans, had prevented the second invasion of Urfa by the Crusaders, ended Urfa Crusader Count, Damascus Atabeg as well as Egyptian Fatimid and reached great successes in the fight against the Antakya crusader principality. In our article prepared by literature review method, the contribution of Turkomans to the success of Nur ad-Din Mahmoud was handled through the cases which referred the name of "Turkoman" or "Turkomans" in the sources
