GULISTAN SHARSH IN TURKISH LITERATURE AND MAHMUD TAI BIN MUHAMMED’S SHARHS GULISTAN

What is called Classical Turkish Literature is between the end of 13th century and the second half of 19th century. In this period which timely corresponds the reign of Ottoman Empire progress can be made according to the bundaries of the states. The phase of acquainting between new cultures and civilizations leads to the tradition of translation and sharh. Especially thanks to the tradition of sharh the literary works which are either remorkable works can be presented or made avaliable to human beings. Sadi Sirazi’s Gulistan is one of those works it’s sharhs was made from 16th to 19th century. In this study, the sharhs of Gulistan is listed and some confirmed information about his life and his work Sharh of Gulistan (The Commentary of Gulistan) is presented in general terms
