A Meskhetian Village In Bilecik: Kapanalan

Abstract:

Meskhetian Turks lived in the regions of Meskhetian, Aspindza of Georgia. As a result of the Edirne treaty that signed at the end of the Ottoman-Russian war of 1828-1829, the tragedy of the region began with Akhaltsikhe's capture of the Russians. The Russians have undertaken a series of systematic activities to remove religious, ethnic and cultural structures in the majority of Muslim areas. In this context, they exiled to carry out an ethnic purging in 1944. The Meskhetian Turks, who were exiled from their homeland, have not been able to settle in new territories for a long time and have encountered some troubles. Despite all the negative developments, the tragic story of the Meskhetian Turks did not come to an end, but in 1989 they were exposed to a shrinkage by their own religionists and disperse various regions of the Soviet Union in Uzbekistan. This article will mention the sociocultural life of the Meskhetian Turks who settled in the Kapanalan village of Bilecik. Kapanalan is a village where except a few of residents from the Meskhetian Turks of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia live together. Village people know at least three languages and convey the their cultural values of Meskhetian with great success to future generations. The village, which is bound to Bozüyük, is one of the most crowded villages of Bilecik, and Meskhetian Turks residing here draws attention with its family life and hospitality
