AN INVESTIGATION ON PESTIL-K？ME SECTOR IN GüMü？HANE PROVINCE

The relationship between market concentration and firm performance is one of the most important topics in industrial economics. In this study, the market concentration indexes of pestil-k？me sector, which has become the most important production market of Gümü？hane province, are calculated and the factors determining the market concentration are analyzed within the framework of ARDL model based on the pestil-k？me production data of 2002-2017 period. The most important finding obtained from the study shows that the concentration in the sector has decreased during the period of 2002-2017. When sub-periods are examined, high density was observed in the market in the period of 2002-2007, the market was competitive in 2007-2012 and the concentration increased again in the period of 2012-2017. In addition, it is found that the calculated Rosenbulth Index is the most suitable concentration index in the market concentration analysis. As a result of this analysis, it is concluded that while local population and prices lead to increase market concentration while in the short term the number of tourists trigger to increase market concentration
