Postmodern Situation in Education: Constructivism

Epistemological and ontological aspects of constructivism are compatible with aspects of postmodernism. Hence, it can be concluded that constructivism is the reflection of postmodernism on education. From this point, to understand the constructivist educational view, it is need to understand postmodernism. To understand postmodernism, modernism should be understood. Both modernism and postmodernism have their own knowledge of information, existence, and morals. Based on these views, a lot of ideas and opinions have been claimed about science, society, art and other human activities. In this study, the constructivist education was examined based on the views of modernism and postmodernism. In this paper, ideas of modernism and postmodernism about education have been examined from the point of science history and philosophy of science. Moreover, perspectives of modernism and postmodernism about education and learning have been depicted. Finally, constructivist learning approach has been examined
