MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN OCCURRENCE AND RELATED FACTORS IN SOPHOMORES STUDYING IN DOKUZ EYLUL UNIVERSITY, FACULTY OF EDUCATIONKeywords: kas-iskelet a?r?s?,??renciler,günlük ya?am aktiviteleri Abstract: Objective: Musculoskeletal system pain is related with learned posture and habits. Analyzing this problem in university period is especially important in terms of protection and awareness. Objective of the research is to define the occurrence of musculoskeletal system pain and related factors in sophomore students in faculty of education.Material and Method: Twenty one major departments in the Faculty of Education have been included in the study population and by using simple random numbers table, Department of Preschool Education, Department of Mathematics and Department of Social Sciences have been included. Three hundred twenty six students in these departments established the study group and data from 317 students have been analyzed. Musculoskeletal pain data of the students have been collected with a questionnaire, by using extended version of Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. Results: 70% of participant students are female, and average age is 20.5±1.2. The most common pain is back pain, low-back pain and neck pain among the participants. Daily sitting time and weight are determined as the predominant variables on pain. When the sitting time increases both in and out of school, it was detected that the possibility of any pain on any part of the body increases as well. Conclusion: In line with the findings of the study,it was determined that musculoskeletal system pain of the university students is significantly high and that students may even fail to do some daily activities because of such pain. To prevent these pains from causing more trouble in their adult life, there are possible precautions such as ergonomic designs or increasing physical activities
