Gender Inequality and Women's Representation in Day Time Shows for Women

In this article, it is examined how the problematic general assumptions supposed to take place in the Turkish society are represented in the daytime shows for women. In this context, 3 samples were selected from 3 national television channels taking into consideration of the current monitoring rates in Turkey. These three programs named as "Bitter Sweet with Müge Anl？” from channel ATV, “With Seda and U？ur” from channel Show TV and “Crime Scene with Bal？i？ek ？lter” from Star TV were randomly selected and a 3 programs chosen from each of them, totally 9 shows were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively according to content analyses. The survey used the agenda-setting model developed by Mc Combs and Shaw. As a result of the research, it was reached that the daytime programs for women's, reinforced the existing gender inequality in the country. Especially in two samples in the television programs examined that this situation is reinforced. It is determined that not all the programs are problematic but there are problematic discourses in the programs. But in one program did not give much place to the sexist discourses, also there were discourses indicating that they were against the sexist approach
