Abstract:

DOI: 10.17681/hsp.467543 Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the validity and reliability of Nathanson And Giffords Ethics Scale (NGES) which is designed to be used in Social Work Ethics. Materials and Methods: The research was conducted with 210 undergraduate students who were studying social work department of Istanbul University-Cerrahpa?a and Bing?l University Department of Social Work. The data were collected by personal information form and NGES. Regarding the scale validity, internal consistency, item-total correlation and two half test reliability was examined. Construct validity was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The construct validity was evaluated by “Principal Component Analysis”, “Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Test” and “Barlett’s Test”. Results: As a result of factor analysis of Nathanson And Giffords Ethics Scale it was determined that it could be used as a unidimensional tool. The mean was 61.16±8.77 and the tool's internal consistency coefficient was 0.760, the item total correlation coefficients were found values between 0.268-0.642. Spearman-Brown, Guttman split-half ve Cronbach α reliability coefficients which were applied to calculate the two half test reliability coefficient of the scale were found to be sufficient. Conclusion: NGES in Turkish can be considered as a valid and reliable scale to evaluate the social work ethics
