Emergence of Didactic Poetry in Arabic Literature and Major Manzumes Written about Arabic Language

Emergence of didactic poetry as a literary genre in Arabic literature coincides with early Abbasid period. In these years, specializations on different fields motivated scholars and educators to seek new teaching methods. As outcome of these searches and efforts, didactic poems were written about history, geography, astronomy, chemistry, hadith, fiqh, and kalam/theology. In next periods, poems related to morphology, syntax, rhetoric and different fields were written to give lectures and provide memorizing in a more effective way in learning envirenments. These didactic poems called as alfiyye, urjuza and manzuma had an important contribution to memorize and understand of rules of Arabic language
