An Investigation on the Attribution of the Exegetical Work Entitled Durj al-Durar to ？Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī

？Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī (d. 471/1078), who represents an important link in the Islamic scholarly tradition, was distinguished in the areas of rhetoric (balāghah) and eloquence (fa？ā？ah), and as a linguist wrote numerous works in these respective fields. Sources also mention Jurjānī among the important names in the field of Quranic exegesis (tafsīr), and that he wrote works in connection to this field. In this context, the primary objective of this study is to investigate and examine the attribution of the exegetical work entitled Durj al-durar to Jurjānī as is found in many a source including a separate, more recently printed edition. In line with this objective, the substance, style and content of the edition ascribed to Jurjānī of the exegetical work Durj al-durar has been analyzed. In this regard, the study is comprised of four headings, the first of which has been assigned to Durj al-durar's technical details, the second heading to the evidences on the exegetical work belonging to Jurjānī, the third heading on evidences of it not belonging to him, and as for the fourth heading is where all of these evidences are analyzed. Accordingly, in spite of there being some evidence that the exegetical work entitled Durj al-durar belongs to Jurjānī, we have come to the conclusion that the evidence of it not belonging to him is rather more substantial
