THE SEMANTIC VALUE OF SILENCE OF THE PROPHET

The semantic content of the silence of the Prophet has been examined in this article. The reasons and the meanings of the si- lence of the Prophet have been analyzed under the light of data derived from narrations. As a conclu- sion, it has been deter- mined that the silence of the Prophet was a source of sharia as one of the most significant means of taqrir sunnah and it has a wide variety of semantic values in human relations. This fact has also re- vealed that it is necessary to evaluate the prophetic and humane characteris- tics of the Prophet togeth- er in order to understand sunnah correctly
